In our seventh episode of Season 2, let’s discuss where the Tampa Bay Rays and A’s are playing this year.
So obviously you have heard all the talk about the Tampa Bay Rays playing in Tampa this year but at the NY Yankees spring Training facility and Single-A home of the Tampa Yankees. This is NOT a typical Single A spring training site, it’s the NY Yankees, so it is probably better than anything the Rays are used to in the spring. So is this doable? Guess we will find out, but what concerns me is what is NOT being talked about. It’s been discussed that the park only seats 11,026 and the Rays averaged 16, 515 in 2024, which was DOWN from 2023 17,781.
The Rays have been forced this hand due to Tampa officials not moving forward to repair the storm-damaged Tropicana Field. That we all know, but what’s the REAL deal? This sounds like a bunch of political bullshit. Politicians and Billionaire owner trying to get the BEST deal. But for WHO? ALL the talk has been about the politics involved with bonds, money, etc and then the size of the stadium costing Ray’s lost revenue.
